Gary Dean Moore

Gary Dean Moore, 66, of Newton, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to Gary’s family may be left at the funeral home.

Gary, the son of Fred A. and Rosie R. (Bohne) Moore, was born Dec. 19, 1950, in Newton. He graduated from Newton High School in 1969, and attended classes at Drake University. Gary and his brother, Randy, were the second generation owners of Moore Tool and Die in Newton. After the company’s closing, Gary later worked as a machinist for Fisher Controls in Marshalltown. Gary was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and Iowa Wrestling season ticket holder. He also enjoyed hunting, boxing, all sports and spending time with his grandkids.

Gary is survived by his children, Ben (Valerie) Moore of Altoona, and Heather Moore (Justin) of Kellogg; grandchildren, Mason and Zoe Moore and Asher and Phoebe Faircloth; sister, Nancy Bowie of Newton; brother, Randy (Donna) Moore of Newton; his niece, Michelle (Paul) Detrick; nephews, Eric (Angie) Bowie, Jason Moore and Jon Moore; and family friend, Melissa and her son, Aiden. He was preceded in death by his parents.
