NORTH LIBERTY — A man has been found competent to stand trial on charges that he tried to hire a hit man to kill a business associate and the person’s family.

The case against Justin DeWitt has been delayed pending results of the mental health evaluation. On Monday, a Johnson County judge ordered the case to proceed. DeWitt’s pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and solicitation.

DeWitt also has pleaded not guilty in a separate case out of Muscatine County.
