Newton Police

Department

Raymond M. Dydell, 41, of Newton, was charged with driving while license denied or revoked, failure to provide proof of insurance and driving or towing unsafe vehicle at midnight Oct. 3 after police stopped a Chevy pickup for driving unsafely on the roadway. The vehicle died multiple times, causing the driver to coast as he attempted to restart his vehicle. As the vehicle restarted, the driver would rev the engine and accelerate in attempt to keep the truck running. The truck stopped at West Third Street South and South Eighth Avenue West, turned north and the truck died the third time. The officer recognized the driver as Dydell and knew his license to be revoked, and he also didn’t have the correct insurance. Dydell was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
