Newton FFA places well in district competition

Sixty-four members of the Newton FFA chapter competed recently at the South Central District Career Development events at Osceola. Students put their knowledge to the test in various agricultural areas. Twelve teams placed in the top 20. First teams were: Agronomy team three and Nursery Landscape. Notable results are as follows: Agronomy (first): Audrey Boleyn, Jaden Reeves, Jarrett Antle and Daniel Townsend; Nursery/Landscape (first): Logan Chandler, Jaden Adams, Lindsay Campbell and Laura Townsend; Farm Business Management (third): Lane Dethrow, Josi Swihart and Kira Kingery; Greenhand Quiz (fourth): Naomi Tamuty, Owen Sanger and John Sexton; and FFA Knowledge (fourth): Jake Schutte, Emily Goshorn The chapter also competed in livestock judging, horse judging, soil judging and dairy foods.
