Jerry Wayne Erickson, 77 years and 11 months, of Santa Ana, Calif., (Tustin, Calif.) died June 21, 2017.

Jerry was born July 29, 1939, the son of Ernest A. Erickson and Ruth A. Rux, in Thief River Falls, Minn. The family moved to Newton in 1949, where Jerry was confirmed in the First Lutheran Church in Newton and graduated from the Newton High School in 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy that year.

Jerry married Miye Kotaki on April 8, 1961. He worked for many years for Philco Ford in the aeronautic division of Ford Aerospace and Communication Corp in Newport Beach, Calf. Jerry was transferred to Germany in 1970, with his wife Miye and two sons, Terry and Randy, and another transfer to Spain as a technical assistant in the Army’s newest ground to defense system the Chaparral missile.

Jerry is survived by his sons, Terry (Katie) and Randy (Teresa); and two grandchildren, Samantha and Michael, all of California; two sisters, Jacqueline Jackie (Bill) Cody and Janice Mudd; brother, Jan (Rayleen) Erickson; and many nieces and nephews living in Iowa, Texas, Florida and Minnesota.

Jerry is preceded in death by his loving wife, Miye of 57 years, Dec. 13, 2016, at age 73; his brother, Jim Erickson in 2006, at age 62; and a brother-in-law, Dale Mudd in 1978, at age 46, all precious family members.

Memorial services were Aug. 12 in Trinity Lutheran in Anaheim, Calif.
