GILBERT — Prairie City-Monroe’s volleyball team ran into a strong Gilbert squad Tuesday night on the road.
The Tigers defeated the Mustangs in three sets, 25-11-, 25-7, 25-10 during Heart of Iowa Conference play.
Gilbert, which has won nine of its last 10 matches, served up 17 aces in the win. The Tigers (14-7 overall, 3-0 in the HOIC) were led by freshman Thea Rotto’s 10 kills, senior Bree Richard’s 33 assists and senior Megan Goodhue’s 19 digs.
PCM (8-12, 1-2) has now lost six of its last nine matches. Statistics for the Mustangs were not available at press time.
The Mustangs play in the Roland-Story tournament at 4:30 p.m. Monday in Story City. They host Nevada at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in Monroe.
