A Newton man is facing first-degree theft charges for allegedly withdrawing more than $15,000 from a woman’s checking account.

Bank records showed that over at course of time, Grefe stole $15,344 from the victim’s checking account. When the thefts were discovered, Grefe admitted to them.

Police arrested Grefe when he was seen driving with a suspended license on Saturday. Grefe was seen driving a 2006 silver Chevrolet Impala into Jasper County Sheriff’s Office parking lot.
