Man pleads not guilty in pedestrian mall slaying

IOWA CITY — One of two men charged in a deadly Iowa City pedestrian mall shooting has pleaded not guilty. Twenty-one-year-old Donte Taylor entered pleas Tuesday to several charges, including trafficking of stolen weapons and control of a firearm by a felon. His trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 24. Police say 22-year-old Kaleek Asham Douglas Jones, of Iowa City, died two days after the Aug. 27 shooting.
