Tigerhawks suffer loss to Hudson in district opener

HUDSON — Hudson made a strong case for the Class A rankings with a 62-0 win over Colfax-Mingo on Friday night.

Hudson improved to 3-0 on the season and got the District 5 season off to a strong start with a second consecutive shutout.

The Pirates have outscored their opponents 142-6 this season.

Senior Reegan Van Dyke threw for 115 yards and an interception, and the Tigerhawks also lost a fumble.

Junior Zarek Hill returned from a concussion to lead Colfax-Mingo (1-3 overall, 0-1 in district play) with six catches for 65 yards. He also had a team-high nine tackles on defense.

Sophomore Trinity Schroeder hauled in two catches for 23 yards and senior Alex Lewis had three catches and 20 yards.

But Hudson’s defense held the Tigerhawks to minus 13 yards rushing, recorded a pick-6 and tallied four sacks.

Matt Seres had three of those sacks and Reese Larson returned an interception 53 yards for a score.

The Pirates (3-0, 1-0) rushed for 358 yards on the night. Cameron Fulcher gained 152 yards and scored three TDs on 12 carries,

Christian Seres totaled 143 yards and two scores on 11 carries. Seres also had 2 catches for 38 yards.

Jacob Murray was 6-for-8 through the air for 120 yards and two scores. Al Hageman grabbed both TD passes.

The Tigerhawks stay on the road at 7 p.m. Friday with a trip to Belle Plaine (2-1, 1-0).
