NHS freshman volleyball compete in tourney

INDIANOLA — Newton High’s freshman volleyball team did not advance to bracket play at Saturday’s Indianola freshman tournament. The Cardinals lost seven out of eight sets of volleyball in four matches.

Their one set win came against Des Moines Lincoln. They lost the first set 21-12 then won 21-14. They were 19-of-24 serving with five ace serves. Newton had two kills in the match

Newton lost 21-12, 21-16 to Urbandale, but served 20-of-21 with two aces. The Cardinals had two kills.

Indianola beat Newton 21-11, 21-16. Newton went 15-of-22 at the service line with four ace serves. It had one kill.

Des Moines East defeated Newton 21-16, 21-16. The Cardinals were 22-of-31 serving with five aces. They recorded three kills.
