The Newton Chapter of the Des Moines Metro Opera (DMMO will kick off its 2017-2018 program year with a welcome potluck at 5 p.m. Sunday at Park Centre.
President Joan Tyler will greet new and current members and will speak about the Newton Guild’s history and upcoming program events.
Scott Arens, an accomplished pianist, Simpson College faculty member and DMMO campaign coordinator will present a musical program.
The goal of the newton Chapter is to introduce, grow and continually promote opera in the community. Programs through the year highlight reviews of the upcoming performances. The operas are presented during the summer festival season at Simpson Collete in Indianola, which is the performance home of DMMO.
The guild invites all who are interested to share in a meal and fellowship. All are invited to participate in educational and cultural opportunities as a new member of the Newton Guild. Yearly dues are $25 per person and $40 per couple. Dues may be paid at the September meeting.
