Warriors beat Hawks

VICTOR — Lynnville-Sully’s Hawks won the first set of Tuesday’s South Iowa Cedar League conference volleyball match. Then the HLV Warriors netted the next three sets to win the match, 19-25, 26-24, 25-19, 25-19.

The Hawks fell to 0-1 in conference play and 2-6 overall. They play at SICL foe Colfax-Mingo at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Senior McKinley Conover had five kills, 11 digs and one assisted block for the Hawks. She also went 15-of-15 at the service line. Sophomore Mallory Loftus downed five kills, put up three solo blocks and had an assisted block.

Camryn Russell, a senior, had four kills, four solo blocks and two assisted blocks at the net. She was 25-of-25 serving with three ace serves. Senior Skyler Young had three ace serves, going 21-of-21 serving.

Junior Shiloh Cunningham served up five aces as she was 20-of-24 serving. She also had three kills, two solo blocks and one assisted block at the net. Junior Carson Fisk had three kills, one ace serve and was 10-of-11 serving.

Young was credited with 15 set assists and Cunningham had four assists. Conover came up with 11 digs followed by Fisk with seven. Russell and junior Makayla Rozendaal had six digs.

The Hawks were 101-of-107 serves in the nip-and-tuck match for 94 percent. HLV went 88-of-98 serving for 90 percent.

The Warriors downed 39 kills in the match to the Hawks’ 20.
