Midtown sale deserves transparency

The public hearing is Sept. 18 for the sale of the Midtown building to the Hatch Development Group for $400,000. The city should release all information and costs associated with the purchase, maintenance, repair and ongoing expenses they have incurred since buying the property for $549,00.

A loan agreement now recently approved by the council for $500,000 to help pay for costs in the development of the property. What ongoing financial contributions, incentives, rebates and tax payer funds will continue to be used on this project, even after sale to Hatch Development and Hotel Maytag remodeling?

There are many questions the city should answer and make public before the sale of the building Sept. 18. No one can deny this is an extremely expensive project that has involved a lot of taxpayer money and city funds. Everyone should have the facts.
