Newton Police Department

• Katie E. Rodewald, 32, of Newton was arrested at 11:05 a.m. Aug. 29 at the adult probation office on a Jasper County warrant for violation of probation, original charge forgery. Rodewald was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

Jeffrey W. Trent, 36, of Newton, was charged with possession of controlled substance - methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance - marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at 7:19 p.m. Aug. 25 after an officer found Trent in possession of 0.8 grams of methamphetamine, 0.9 grams of marijuana, a glass pipe containing marijuana and a glass pipe containing white residue. Trent was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Carlos Alvarez, 28, of Des Moines, was charged with driving while barred, possession of controlled substance - marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, controlled substance violation - methamphetamine and unauthorized possession of offensive weapons at 11 a.m. Aug. 26 after Alvarez allegedly went to a house in the 7500 block of Evans Street with a short barreled shotgun. Alvarez reportedly walked around the property looking for the victim. Alvarez was arrested at the home and was found to have methamphetamine on his person and marijuana in his vehicle. Two digital scales were also found in the vehicle and two glass smoking pipes. Alvarez was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Brett G. Daughtrey, 40, of Newton, was charged with driving while barred at 1:35 a.m. Aug. 26 after Daughtrey was found exiting the driver’s side door of a broken down vehicle in the 1200 block of Highway 6. Daughtrey told the officer he was driving home to Newton from Grinnell when his vehicle overheated and broke down. Daughtrey had a barred driving status. He was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
