DES MOINES — The “Haves and Have Knots” were awarded top honors in the Wood Projects competition judged prior to the start of the 2017 Iowa State Fair.
Nedra Herr, of Newton, was named second runner-up in Best of Show in the Woodcarving competition. She won first place ribbons for her entries in the Relief Carving — Nature Scenes and Relief Carving — Natural History categories. Herr also earned second in the Miscellaneous — Decorated Functional Frames & Clocks.
Dennis Evans, also of Newton, earned a third place ribbon for his entry in the Miscellaneous — Signs, Canes & Gunstocks category.
