DES MOINES — Jasper County residents compete in the Embroidery division of the Fabric and Threads contest judged prior to the start of the 2017 Iowa State Fair.
Dorothy Raymond, of Newton, placed second in the Surface — Small Household Item category and third place in the Surface — Large Household Item category.
Marilyn Samson, of Prairie City, received third place in the Surface — Towels category and honorable mention in the Surface — Pair of Pillowcases category.
Contestants were judged on design, workmanship and finishing.
