Events this weekend at Neal Smith NWR

Join staff at the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge from 6 to 8 a.m. Saturday for the August Photo Hike. Photographers of all skill levels are welcome to join the hike. Bring your camera and dress for the weather and meet at the Prairie Learning Center.

At 10 a.m. Saturday join volunteer naturalists for a guided nature walk along the half-mile Overlook Trail. See the prairie in bloom, watch for birds and butterflies and learn about the bison and elk herds. Recommended for adults, as well as children over 12 while accompanied by an adult. Registration is required.

The next Sunday Scientist program is from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The subject for this month’s program is “Birds, Butterflies and Blooms.” Children ages 6-10 will join a ranger to study science in nature, conduct experiments and search up close for wildlife. Registration is required.
