DES MOINES — Two Newton residents placed in several categories in the King Arthur Flour Bread competition, judged Aug. 10 at the 2017 Iowa State Fair.
Phyllis Olson, of Newton, won first place in both the Bread Machine Bread and the Caraway Rye categories. She also received third in Oatmeal.
Jeffrey King, of Newton, received second place in both Focaccia and French categories, and also collected third place in the Egg category.
Entries were judged on flavor, appearance and texture.
