Cynthia S. Butler

Cynthia S. Butler, 68, of Colfax, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Newton Healthcare. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4 at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The family will greet friends following the service at a coffee time at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Memorials may be directed to the Southeast Iowa Parrott Rescue and condolences may be left for the family at coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Merrild and Aleatha (Burke) Fortune, Cynthia was born Jan. 19, 1949, in Waterloo. Cynthia worked as a welder at Trane Manufacturing for 20 years. She also worked on a ranch in Colorado. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed working in her garden, cooking and thrift shopping. She loved animals, especially her birds, dogs, cats and horses.

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Dr. Brad Hagarty of Colfax; three granddaughters, Caitlyn, Hannah and Madeline; and a sister, Diane Martinson. Preceding her in death were her parents.
