MAT No. 1 power team in nation for third straight year

More than 65 athletes from the MAT Trampoline and Tumbling Team qualified and traveled to Madison to participate in the national championships. The 2017 national championships was the largest ever in USTA history with more than 2700 athletes competing from all across the country in Power Tumbling, Olympic Trampoline, and Double Mini Trampoline events. This year’s national championships proved successful for the MAT Team as they took home the honor of being named the No. 1 Power Tumbling Team in the Nation for the third year in a row.

The MAT Team also came away with several Team Division awards which included: third place Advanced Beginner Girls Power Tumbling, second place Sub Novice Girls Power Tumbling, second Place Intermediate Girls Power Tumbling and third Place Elite Girls Power Tumbling.

During the Awards Ceremony, MAT power tumbler Stacey Slaven performed a routine and demonstration with the USTA Elite National Team. Stacey has been selected as an Elite National Team Member for the last two years. This year will be another selection year for our Elite athletes.

Four other MAT Team members also performed a routine and demonstration on Wednesday as a part of the USTA’s All Star Team. Those team members were: Chelsea Trotter, Kyah Siegert, Mia Giannetto, and Joseph Rechtfertig. Just like the Elite National Team, those MAT athletes have been a part of the All Star Team for two years. This upcoming year is also a selection year for the All Star Team.

The following are the results for the 2017 USTA national championships. These are the overall results; flight results would have been higher, as some groups had up to eight flights (80 competitors).
