RAGBRAI route taking riders to Algona after night in Spencer

SPENCER — Riders on the Des Moines Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa are headed to Algona on Monday.

The ride began Sunday in Orange City and ended the day in Spencer.

Jenon Scallon co-chaired publicity for Orange City's RAGBRAI committee, and she expressed awe at watching Orange City, which has about 6,200 residents, nearly quadruple in size.
Eric Tigges is executive co-chair on Spencer's RAGBRAI committee, and he told the Sioux City Journal that "riders came in pretty happy and excited."

The Register says the RAGBRAI route covers 411 miles. Tuesday’s overnight stay is scheduled for Clear Lake, then Charles City on Wednesday, Cresco on Thursday and Waukon on Friday before the ride ends Saturday in Lansing.
