• Jamie A. Roggeman, 45, of Britt, was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness and interference of official acts at 10:25 p.m. July 18 after police were called to an apartment on First Street South in reference to an intoxicated man who assaulted the victim. The victim told police that due to Roggeman being intoxicated, he was yelling, he lunged at the victim and hit her on the right side of her neck. Roggeman appeared to be under the influence when police spoke to him. He wouldn’t stand up and resisted arrest. Roggeman continued to disobey orders while in the patrol vehicle. Roggeman was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Christopher L. Cleveland, 32, of Newton, was charged with assault on persons in certain occupations at 3:40 a.m. July 20. An officer was transporting Cleveland to the Jasper County Jail after Cleveland was arrested on a active warrant for failure to appear. While at the jail, the officer opened the door for Cleveland to get out. Cleveland kicked the door in an aggressive manner, causing the door to swing and strike the officer. Cleveland denied kicking the door and then later apologized after he was told he would be charged. Cleveland was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
