Newton Police Department

• Amy L. Hidlebaugh, 39, of Newton, was arrested at 5:03 p.m. July 13 at 204 N. Fourth Ave. E. after police were called in reference to an individual who had a Poweshiek County warrant for failure to appear and three counts of unauthorized use of credit card. Hidlebaugh was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Joshua R. Kaisand, 26, of Newton, was arrested at 9:37 p.m. July 14. Officers were called to 402 E. 21st St. S. on a call of a possible assault. Kiasand was arrested on two warrants dated July 10 for obstruction of emergency communications and burglary second degree. Kaisand was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Sean L. Fowler, 22, of Newton, was charged with domestic abuse assault, injury or mental illness at 4 a.m. July 13 after Newton officers were dispatched to a residence on First Street North. Officers spoke with the female victim who said Fowler came home intoxicated and wasn’t allowed to come into the house due to his inebriated state. An argument escalated and Fowler allegedly punched glass out of the front entry door after the door was shut and locked. The glass shattered projecting toward the victim, hitting her in the right arm, causing cuts, which were still bleeding when officers arrived. Fowler was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

Jose F. Rivera Valdovinos, 19, of Tama, was charged with driving while license denied or revoked at 3:59 p.m. July 15 after an officer pulled over Valdovinos for driving with a warrant for failure to appear for first degree OWI. Valdovinos had a revoked driving status. Valdovinos was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
