Wilma S. Twombley

Wilma S. Twombley, 96, of Newton, died Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Skiff Medical Center. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 17 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials to Wilma’s family may be left at the funeral home.

Wilma, the daughter of Calvin and Lettie Leak, was born March 12, 1921, in Thayer. She grew up in the Thayer and Lorimor areas and later moved to Newton. On Dec. 18, 1943, Wilma was united in marriage with Kenneth Twombley at the Little Brown Church in Nassua. They made their home farming in the Newton area. Wilma was a homemaker and farmer’s wife. She enjoyed gardening.

Those left to honor Wilma’s memory are her sons, Gary (Wanda) Twombley of Newton, James (Peggy) Twombley of Melbourne and Glen (Nancy) Twombley of Spencer; grandchildren, Troy Twombley, Matthew Twombley, Jamie Twombley, Keith Twombley, Jessica Twombley and Justin (Alicia) Mitchell; and her 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth in 2009; a daughter, Diane; and five sisters, Faith, Betty, Delores, Fanora and Donna.
