Gregory J. Schuldt, 33, of West Des Moines, was charged with public intoxication at 2:15 a.m. July 4 after police were called to a fight outside of the post office. When police arrived, Schuldt had blood on his arms and smelled of alcohol. Schuldt picked up a full beer from the ground and opened it in front of officers. Schuldt failed sobriety tests. Schuldt was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Desire D. Phillips, 26, of Newton, was charged with accessory to a felony at 8 p.m. July 6 after police were called to an apartment on 11th Avenue East in reference to a possible domestic. Phillips wouldn’t answer questions from police and wouldn’t let the officers inside. Officers also learned two individuals inside had warrants for their arrest. She told police no one else was in the apartment. When officers entered the apartment, they found both wanted individuals, Hailey Esqueda and Scoty Steward. Phillips, Esqueda and Steward were all arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• William J. Renken, 54, of Grinnell, was charged with driving while license under suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia at 5:28 a.m. Friday after police stopped a motorcycle driver for not stopping at a stop sign. Renken was stopped in the 1300 block of South Fifth Avenue East. Renken told police he knew he didn’t stop at the stop sign and that he had a suspended license. He didn’t have a motorcycle license and his registration wasn’t current for the bike. Renken also had a warrant for his arrest for driving with a suspended driver’s license. Police searched Renken and found a methamphetamine pipe in his pocket with burnt meth residue in the pipe. Renken was also arrested on a Tama County warrant for larceny and a Cherokee District Court warrant for contempt. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Karen A. Wilson, 55, of Des Moines, was charged with public intoxication at 6:16 a.m. Saturday after police were called to the 300 block of East 15th Street North in reference to yelling. Police found a woman walking onto the roadway holding an open can of beer. The woman was yelling at neighbors about an unidentified person allegedly burglarizing her parents’ residence. Wilson told police she had been drinking alcohol that night. Wilson had a breath alcohol content of over 0.08. Wilson was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
