2 injured when car crashes into Iowa grocery

ESTERVILLE — Police say a car drove through the front glass doors of a grocery store in northwestern Iowa, injuring two people. The crash happened just before 9 a.m. Thursday at the Estherville Hy-Vee grocery.
Officers determined the driver was trying to leave the parking lot when he accelerated and drove into store. The car then spun around inside the store and hit a steel support beam before stopping.

A man and a woman suffered minor injuries. The driver, who was not injured, was ticketed on suspicion of failing to maintain control. The crash caused about $27,000 in damage.

In December, a pickup crashed into a southern Iowa Walmart, killing three people. Police determined that crash was an accident, and no charges were filed.
