Raider baseball falls to Gilbert

COLLINS — The Collins-Maxwell/Baxter baseball team mustered up just four hits against Gilbert on Wednesday and lost, 8-2, to the Tigers during Heart of Iowa Conference play.

CMB’s three pitchers walked eight Tigers, and Gilbert added 10 hits in the win. The Tigers, who defeated Knoxville at Principal Park earlier in the day, improved to 9-4 in conference play after the win. Gilbert is now 18-4 overall.

Senior Tucker Maxwell had one hit, one walk and one RBI to lead CMB (3-14 overall, 2-11 in the HOIC) at the plate, and senior Brady Kemp had one hit and walked once. The Raiders stranded seven runners on base.

Junior Travis Lindemoen started on the mound and took the loss after allowing four earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks in four innings. Senior Creighton Caple and sophomore Derrick Klemme also pitched in relief.

Gilbert’s Ryan Hart (3-1) allowed no runs and two hits in the six-inning victory.

CMB plays Ballard (9-10) at 7 p.m. Thursday in Slater.
