Hunter Education course to be offered

Jasper County Conservation will offer a Hunter Education Class and Field Day from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 2 and Aug. 3 each day. The course will be held at the Izaak Walton League clubhouse located northwest of Newton, just off of Highways 14 and F-36.

The Hunter Education Class is free and all materials will be provided. Space is limited. Persons must be at least 12 years old to take the course. It is necessary that students attend both days in order to receive certification. Students should also bring a sack lunch.

Hunter education registration must be completed online through the Iowa DNR at www.iowadnr.gov/huntered prior to the class. Children under 18 years old will be required to register under a parent or guardian's account. Workbooks for the class can be picked up at the conservation office at 1030 W. Second St. S. in Newton.
