Miscues plague CMB baseball in loss to Nevada

NEVADA — Five errors plagued the Collins-Maxwell/Baxter baseball team Monday during a loss to Nevada during Heart of Iowa Conference play.

The Cubs plated 11 runs in the game but only three runs were earned during Nevada’s 11-1 win over CMB.

The Raiders had only four hits in the game.

Nevada cranked out 10 hits and left 11 runners on base.

Senior Brady Kemp doubled and had an RBI at the plate. Junior Travis Lindemoen walked and scored a run and senior Brady Ross walked twice.

Kemp started on the mound and took the loss after surrendering eight runs — none earned — on eight hits with three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.

Freshman Cole Damman and junior Bryce Bacon each threw in relief and combined to allow three earned runs.

CMB (2-9 overall, 2-7 in the HOIC) plays Greene County at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday in Jefferson.
