Austin L. Lamb, 18, of Newton, was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary and Brandy L. Gilkison, 31, of Newton, was charged with third-degree burglary after police were called at 6:50 a.m. to Smith's Storage Rental for a storage shed burglary. The renter of the shed told police it had been broken into over night. The victim told police two other sheds had also been opened. Lamb was identified by a witness on scene at the time of the burglaries. Lamb later returned some property after being confronted by the renter. Gilkison was seen at the storage shed at the time of the burglaries on surveillance video. Gilkison told police she was at the shed but denied taking any items. Lamb and Gilkison were arrested June 7 and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Wallie P. Green, 45, of Newton, was charged with operating while under the influence, eluding and cited with driving while license under suspension at 10:17 p.m. June 5 after police saw a man driving erratically in a blue Chevy Cavalier in the 1200 block of First Avenue East. The vehicle swerved into oncoming lanes then struck a south curb. Police initiated emergency lights and siren. The vehicle continued driving to East 21st Street South and pulled into a driveway. Police placed Green in custody. Green told police he knew the police were trying to pull him over but he wanted to get the vehicle home. Green smelled of alcohol and told police he had drank one apple wine cooler. Green refused a breath sample. Green had a revoked driver’s license. Green was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Kristen M. Miller of Newton, was charged with consumption in public places intoxication at 12:02 a.m. June 7 after police responded to East Third Street North in reference to a female passed out. Police made contact with Miller who had a hard time standing and was swaying. Miller failed sobriety tests. Police also found Miller to be in possession of syringes. Miller was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Anthony R. Franklin Strange, 21, of Newton, was arrested at 10:06 p.m. June 8 at 605 E. Fifth St. N. on Jasper County warrants for failure to appear on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and fifth-degree theft. Strange was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Christopher L. Cleveland, 35, of Newton, was charged with public intoxication and fifth-degree criminal mischief at 11:27 p.m. June 7 after police were called to 1316 Crescent Drive in reference to criminal mischief. The victim told police Cleveland slashed her rear driver’s side tire with a knife. Police observed the damage. When police located Cleveland he smelled of alcohol and refused any sobriety tests. Cleveland was also in possession of two knives. Cleveland was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
