D. DeWayne McCoy, 81, of Newton, died June 10, 2017, from complications of myastenia gravis. A visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 15 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family and a donation will be made to the Myastenia Gravis Foundation of America.

Born in Boone, July 1, 1935, DeWayne had a knack for sales and business. He had a special interest in cars and owned and operated DeWayne’s on First Avenue in Newton, for more than 30 years. On Sept. 11, 1955, DeWayne was united in marriage with Dorothy Olson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

DeWayne is survived by his wife, Dorothy McCoy; a son, Wayne (Kim) McCoy of West Des Moines; two daughters, Julie (Tim) Van Cleave of Kellogg and Cheryl (Mark) VanHouweling of Prairie City; daughter-in-law, Amy Parks of Ohio; his two brothers, Dean (Juanita) McCoy of Madrid and Jim (June) McCoy of Illinois; two sisters, Carolyn (Clark) Douglas of Madrid and Ann Selma Herman of Nevada; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark McCoy; daughter-in-law, Judy McCoy; two brothers; and four sisters.
