Steven Wayne Ratliff, 62, of Baxter, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at his home. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 12 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to the Izaak Walton League may be left at the funeral home or the church the morning of the service.
Steve, the son of Charles Andrew and Helen Louise (Romans) Ratliff, was born Dec. 29, 1954, in Newton. He grew up in Newton, and graduated from Newton High School in 1973. Steve was united in marriage with Ann Ranae Schroyer July 2, 1976, at the Sacred Heart Church in Newton. He worked at the Maytag Company for 30 years, retiring in 2003. Steve was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Izaak Walton League for more than 40 years, where he served on the board, had served as president and membership secretary, and still continued to cook the weekly meals. Steve enjoyed being outdoors — hunting, fishing, camping and four-wheeling.
Those left to honor Steve’s memory are his wife, Ann Ratliff of Baxter; sons, David Ratliff and Andy (Katie) Ratliff, both of Baxter; grandchildren, Benjamin and Riley; and his sister, Pam Ratliff of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
