No. 4 CMB makes too many mistakes in loss to BCLUW

CONRAD — Senior Mikayla Eslinger hit a three-run home run to put the Class 2A No. 4 Collins-Maxwell/Baxter softball team up 3-0 against BCLUW, but the Comets rallied for a 4-3 non-conference home victory Tuesday night.

BCLUW got a home run from Leah Yantis as the Comets improved to 9-4 on the season. BCLUW answered Eslinger’s home run with a two-run fourth inning and then took the lead for good with two more runs in the sixth.

CMB senior Abbey Kahler took the loss in the circle for the Raiders (8 3). She only surrendered five hits and walked none but dropped to 2-3 on the season. The loss by CMB ended a six-game win streak.

Lauren Anderson got the win for the Comets. She allowed one earned run with three hits and seven strikeouts.

The Raiders host South Hamilton (8-2) for a Heart of Iowa Conference game at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Collins.
