First Presbyterian to host local musicians

“88 Keys and a Silver Flute” is the theme of the next Sundays at Four concert at First Presbyterian Church.

Pianist, Katie Lee, will be performing Liszt, Rachmaninov and Debussy and the piano duo of Marlys and Norm Grimm will be sharing several short selections from Bach and Brahms to an arrangement titled “The All-American Hometown Band.” Glenda Duffus and Kris McKlveen will be playing piano/flute duets including works by Faure and Irish and American folk songs. Katie Lee is a dentist at Associated Dentists who also has completed a degree in piano.

Duffus and McKlveen are retired teachers, both with music degrees. Norm Grimm is a retired Newton High School vocal music teacher and Marlys Grimm is a professional collaborative pianist.

The concert begins at 4 p.m. this Sunday, at the First Presbyterian Church, 220 N. Second Ave. E. in Newton. The program is free and all music lovers are invited. A reception will follow the performance.
