Newton Fest promo video features Iowa Speedway Sing-Along

The four-day long community festival, Newton Fest, is scheduled for June 8 through June 11. Residents and visitors will be treated to a variety of entertainment, including a carnival, food contests and more. But most impressive of all is the live music that is taking center stage. From Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat at Iowa Speedway to Des Moines band Brother Trucker and Iowa-native Damon Dotson, the weekend will feature music for everyone.

To promote the most jam-packed musical weekend in recent Newton history, Jimmy Small, President at Iowa Speedway, and Damon Dotson, who is performing at Newton Fest, took a spin around the track for a Speedway Sing-Along. The 5-minute video captures the laps around the track and a taste of the Saturday night performance from Dotson. You can view the video here: https://youtu.be/xvSFec50RcU

On Friday, metal giants Metallica will take the stage with Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat at Iowa Speedway. This stop, which is part of their WorldWired 2017 North American tour, is in partnership with The Native Fund. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Native Fund, founded by Iowa natives Ashton Kutcher and Dallas Clark.

After Shock, an 80’s tribute band, will also be performing on Friday night at Thunder Nites in downtown Newton. The bike night attracts hundreds of motorcyclists and people to Newton the second Friday of the month from May to September.

Damon Dotson and Brother Trucker will be Saturday evening’s musical entertainment at this year’s Newton Fest. Brother Trucker will take the stage at 5:30 p.m. followed by an 8 p.m. performance by Damon Dotson.

In addition to the two evening performances, local talent will take the stage beginning at noon on Saturday, June 10 for a Local Music Showcase hosted by 301 Studios.

“The whole idea behind Newton Fest is to get together as a community and have fun,” said Jessica Lowe, chair of Newton Fest and director of the United Way of Jasper County, “We have some great musical performance lined up for Newton Fest and we hope to see a wide variety of people at this year’s events!”
