• Kathy A. Jones, 66, of Newton, was charged with assault on persons in certain occupations and trespass at 8:34 a.m. May 17 at Newton Village. A police officer located Jones sitting in a chair in the front foyer of the building. The officer told Jones she was trespassed from the building and she began to yell, then charged at the officer. Jones was trespassed from the building April 28. Jones pushed the officer who then told her she was under arrest. During the arrest, Jones grabbed a door and wouldn’t let go of it. While trying to restrain Jones, she kicked the officer who then called for backup. Jones was placed in handcuffs and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
