Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for Jasper County

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for western Jasper County until 5 p.m.

At 4:15 p.m. severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 7 miles south of Jefferson to near Grimes to near Carlisle, moving north at 60 mph. The 70 mph wind gusts could be a hazard. Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely tomobile homes, roofs and outbuildings. A tornado watch remains in effect until 7 p.m. for central, southcentral and west central Iowa.
