A vehicle and foot chase led to the arrest of an Urbandale man Tuesday evening.

Christopher G. Friedson, 32, was arrested on charges including operating while intoxicated and eluding after the Newton Police Department was called at 7:53 p.m. by a citizen about a vehicle all over the road.

The officer located the vehicle and attempted to make a stop in the 1200 block of First Avenue East. Friedson refused to stop and continued eastbound toward Kellogg.

At that time, along with the NPD, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol joined the pursuit. The vehicle started swerving into the oncoming lanes leading officers to use the precision immobilization technique to stop the vehicle just west of Kellogg.

Friedson then attempted to flee on foot, running across a field before he was caught by officers. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail with additional charges of improper use of lanes and interference with official acts causing injury, an aggravated misdemeanor.

He is currently being held at the jail on $3,300 bond and faces up to two years of imprisonment and $6,250 in fines if convicted of the aggravated misdemeanor change.
