Newton’s DECA attends national conference

Seven members from the Newton DECA Chapter recently attended the National DECA Conference on April 26-30 in Anaheim, Calif. where more than 20,000 members were in attendance.

To attend this event, students had to qualify in their competitive event at the Iowa DECA Conference.

The Newton attendees were: Grant Fitzgerald, Rhandyn Oldfield, Carson Cazett, Zach Combs, Branden Telepnev, Benny Cheng and Brad Portner. Fitzgerald attended a leadership Ignite session; Oldfield, Cazett, Combs, Telepnev, Cheng and Portner competed in Food Marketing, Human Resources Management, Marketing Communications, Apparel Marketing, Business Services and Automotive Services respectively.

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. DECA Inc. is a not-for-profit student organization with more than 215,000 members in all 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Canada, China, Germany, Guam, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Spain.
