• Alex J. Meador, 30, of Newton, was charged with possession of controlled substance, marijuana and possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating while under the influence and controlled substance violation at 1:26 a.m. Thursday after a deputy stopped Meador for a registration violation on Highway F-17 East. Meador told the deputy there were “dabs” in his vehicle and where they were at. A bag of marijuana was located and two bags of white crystal substance were found, which tested positive for methamphetamine. There was also a tin located with 14 methylphenidate hydrochloride pills. Meador said a friend gave them to him, and he doesn’t usually take pills. The deputy also found two methamphetamine pipes, rolling papers a marijuana pipe and an e-cig that Meador said he used to smoke “dab” while driving. Meador was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Calvin A. Gousman, 19, of Des Moines, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 12:07 a.m. Friday after a deputy stopped Gousman for a traffic violation in the 1200 block of Highway 14 South. Gousman was found to have a suspended license and smelled of marijuana. Gousman told the deputy there was a bong in the trunk of the vehicle. Paraphernalia was located in the front, rear and trunk of the vehicle. A grinder, false can, pipe and bong were found.
