Newton student receives theatre award at IHCC

OTTUMWA — Following a successful run of “Legally Blonde the Musical,” Indian Hills Performing Arts students received awards at the annual Cake on an Empty Stage Ceremony held in St. John Auditorium.

The ceremony takes place every spring and celebrates the accomplishments of Indian Hills students who participated in theatrical productions during the past academic year. This year’s performances that were recognized included The Man Who Came to Dinner in December 2016 and Legally Blonde the Musical in April 2017.

Receiving the award for Best Performance in The Man Who Came to Dinner was Brett Doud, of Ottumwa, who performed Sheridan Whiteside, and Best Supporting Role went to Amanda Gray, of Milton, who performed Harriet Stanley.

Receiving an award for Best Performance in Legally Blonde the Musical was Cecilia Mitchell, of Grinnell, who performed Elle Woods, and Best Supporting Role went to Peyton Nelson, of Ottumwa, who performed Paulette Bounefonte.

Technical theater work was also honored. Best Technical Support went to Katie Greve, of Dubuque, and Jaci Guthrie, of Newton.
