Sheriff's office checks on regisered sex offenders

One arrested, one wanted

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office checked up on all registered sex offenders in the county Wednesday, yielding one arrest and one wanted.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation assisted as 13 law enforcement officers contacted approximately 66 registered individuals. The project took about three hours to complete.

The majority of registered offenders were found to be in compliance, which included their current address and contact information.

Isaias Gamboa, 22, was arrested and charged with violation of the sex offender registry, first offense, after he listed an address in Poweshiek County, which was incorrect.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is looking for Eric Lashomb, 37, who listed an address in Newton in 2015. Lashomb is currently wanted on an arrest warrant for violation of the sex offender registry.

Two other sex offenders were not located at their listed residence, an investigation continues with charges pending.
