Colfax-Mingo golf teams split with SICL foe Belle Plaine

BELLE PLAINE — Colfax-Mingo sophomore Delaney Underwood won another medalist honor Monday, and the Tigerhawk girls’ golf team defeated a short-handed Belle Plaine squad at Belle Plaine Country Club.

Belle Plaine’s boys team upended Colfax-Mingo to earn the split on the day.

Underwood shot a 48 to win medalist honors over Belle Plaine’s Halle VanScoyoc, who was second with a 50.

The Tigerhawks shot a 216 to win. Belle Plaine only had two golfers. The Plainsmen boys defeated Colfax-Mingo 193-217. Ethan Kaiser (43) and Chance Baburek (44) were the top two finishers.

After Underwood, Colfax-Mingo got a 51 from freshman Shanen Shedenhelm.

Freshman Sydni Hostetter carded a 58, and the final counting score came from sophomore Chelsea Russell. Russell shot a 59.

The non-counting score of 62 and 69 were recorded by sophomore Camilla Schlosser and freshman Brielle Reed, respectively.

Sophomore Ahren Teed led the Tigerhawk boys with a 52. Sophomore Nic Duffy carded a 53, junior Jake Dunsbergen shot a 54 and the final counting score of 60 came from sophomore Skyler Aikin.

Junior Wyatt Smith shot a non-counting 60, and freshman Brady Berkey shot a non-counting 61.

The Tigerhawks play at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at English Valleys.
