DMACC students learn through crash simulation

Image 1 of 2

Two people died and scores were injured in the 10-vehicle crash simulation held on the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Ankeny Campus.  As DMACC Nursing and Paramedic students treated the “injured,” Fire Science students extricated victims from cars while Criminal Justice students managed the scene and investigated the cause of the accident. A total of 99 DMACC nursing students from the Ankeny, Boone, Carroll, Newton and Urban campuses took part in the crash simulation, which offered an opportunity for students from multiple programs to apply what they have learned in the classroom in a “real life” situation.
