The Friends of Newton Parks will once again be hosting The Fast & The Furriest 1.5 mile fun run/walk for pooches and their owners.
The 8th annual race will begin at 8 a.m. May 13 at Agnes Patter Park and Newton Arboretum. All proceeds will support Friends of Newton Parks to be used to enhance Newton’s many parks, including the Newton Dog Park.
Check in and race day registration will be from 7 to 7:55 a.m. the day of the race. Post-race fun will begin at 9:15 a.m. when the furry participants can take part in a variety of contests. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the contests and for first, second and third place finishers of the race. All participants — both two and four-legged friends — will receive a door prize.
Forms are available at the Arboretum and at various locations around Newton. Forms can also be found at http://goo.gl/Xhyv2t. Cost is $25 for those who pre-register by Friday, and $30 after April 29 and day of the race. All participants will receive a door prize and treats will be provided to their four-legged companion. Dog owners must submit vaccinations records with the registration form, if not, they will not be allowed to participate the day of the race.
