A 20-year-old Newton man pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual abuse and will be sentenced in Jasper County District Court Monday.

Colin C. Hansen pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual abuse, prompting an amended charge of assault causing serious injury that was sexually motivated, a class D felony.

Hansen is accused of forcing a sex act on a 16-year-old victim during an incident in June 2015. Hansen was arrested June 8, 2015.

According to the police report, the victim said Hansen messaged her on Facebook to meet at the Homedahl Park in Kellogg. Upon meeting, she said Hansen allegedly grabbed her arm and forced her into his car.

Once in the car, Hansen allegedly asked for the victim to perform a sex act on him. She refused, and Hansen then grabbed her head and forced her to perform the act, according to the report. The victim also described a white T-shirt Hansen used following the alleged sex abuse.

When officers spoke with Hansen, he allegedly denied being at the park and said the victim had messaged him on Facebook, and they made plans to meet, but he never showed up.

When officers found a wrinkled-up white T-shirt in the back of Hansen’s vehicle, he refused to speak any further with law enforcement, according to a police report.
