A new set of 15 uncontrolled intersections are being addressed by the city. City council approved the first reading on an ordinance adding traffic signs to intersections in southwest quadrant of the city.
“The traffic safety committee looked at all the uncontrolled intersections located in an area bound on the north by First Avenue West, on the east by First Street South, and on the west and south by city limits,” city administrator Matt Muckler said. “There are a total of 15 uncontrolled intersections remaining in this area. The intersections in this area were analyzed based on school traffic, pedestrian traffic and the neighborhood dynamics.”
Stop or yield signs will be added at the following intersections:
• Northbound traffic on West 14th Street South at Monroe Drive will have a stop sign added.
• Southbound traffic on West 15th Street South at South 13th Avenue West will have a stop sign added.
• Southbound traffic on West 15th Street Place South at South 15th Avenue West will have a stop sign added.
• Northbound traffic on West 17th Street South at South 15th Avenue West will have a stop sign added.
• Eastbound traffic only on South Third Avenue West at West 13th Street South will have a stop sign added.
• Westbound traffic on South Third Avenue West at West 14th Street South will have a stop sign added.
• Westbound traffic on South 14th Avenue West at West 13th Street South will have a stop sign added.
• Westbound traffic on South 15th Avenue West at West 13th Street South will have a stop sign added.
• Eastbound traffic on South 15th Avenue West at West 14th Street South will have a stop sign added.
• Northbound traffic on the east frontage road of West Fourth Street South at South 15th Avenue West will have a yield sign added.
• Westbound traffic only on South Third Avenue West at West 13th Street South will have a yield sign added.
• Westbound traffic on South 11th Avenue West at West 22nd Street South will have a yield sign added.
• Westbound traffic on South 16th Avenue West at West 13th Street South will have a yield sign added.
• Eastbound traffic on South 16th Avenue West at West 14th Street South will have a yield sign added.
The ordinance will have two additional reading before being adopted by city council.
