OGDEN — Colfax-Mingo girls’ track and field coach Zach Tomas is unsure what it is about the Ogden meet that seems to give his Tigerhawk squad troubles.
It may have been a combination of stiff competition and tired legs Thursday night. The Tigerhawks’ best finishes were three bronze-medal performances, and Colfax-Mingo finished in a tie for sixth the seven-team field.
Gilbert won the meet with 180 points, and the rest of the field included Madrid (140), Ogden (74), Ballard (60), Martensdale-St. Marys (54), Colfax-Mingo (39) and Woodward-Granger (39).
“We never seem to perform well at this meet,” Tomas said. “I am not sure what to blame it on, but it just wasn’t a good night. We just looked tired.”
Junior Ries Wilson was third in the high jump, and sophomore Ilia Hostetter finished third in the 3,000-meter run. The sprint medley relay also was third.
Wilson’s best leap in the high jump was 4 feet, 8 inches. Hostetter finished her 3,000 in 12 minutes, 54.63 seconds.
The sprint medley relay of sophomore Jordan Atwood, freshmen Colbee Cunningham and Abbey McConeghey and senior Dakota Hostetter finished third with a time of 2:02.41.
Dakota Hostetter finished fourth in the 1,500 in 5:39.36, and junior Morgan McKinney-McGill was fourth in the 3,000 in 13:50.25.
Freshman Braedynn Rawlins and junior Rhiannon Haley finished 4-5 in the shot put. Rawlins’ best throw was marked at 33-2 1/4, and Haley’s furthest toss covered 33-0 3/4.
The Tigerhawks compete at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Van Meter.
