NPD Completes March Seatbelt Survey

The Newton Police Department recently conducted a seatbelt usage survey that showed strong results by motorists in the community. On March 31, the Newton Police Department observed both vehicle drivers and their passengers for seatbelt usage.

Overall, the survey found 90 percent of motorists and passengers properly wearing their seatbelts.

“The Newton Police Department would like to remind motorists to buckle up, slow down and obey all traffic laws,” Chief Rob Burdess said.

Primary funding for the project was provided by the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
