Insert song suggestions here

Finding the right playlist may seem like a fun, no-brainer task, but as of late, picking the right lyrics and melodies has seemed daunting and has led me to constantly change my mind.

I’m not talking about picking my personal playlist I only hear in the car or while working out. The song list I have been trying to organize is one I will most likely remember forever and will be meant to entertain more than 100 guests. This grueling task I speak of is compiling a wedding day playlist.

I picked my DJ months ago and since then I have jotted down songs I think would be great for a certain part of the day. I thought I had a pretty hefty list, but just as it feels like I’m making progress I begin to hit the delete button.

The hardest part is finding unique and sentimental songs for the wedding ceremony while walking down the aisle, the first dance with my groom and the father-daughter dance. I’m hesitant to make them sappy songs, not because I don’t like them, but because I don’t want to have to reapply my makeup six times during the day.

I think the center of my turmoil is differing opinions. I love country music to a certain extent. I especially appreciate the “oldies,” but maybe they are just oldies to me and my generation. Such as, Diamond Rio, Alan Jackson and Jo Diffie. Songs like “Meet in the Middle” and “John Deere Green” remind me of my childhood. Wedding appropriate? Probably not, but maybe.

My fiancé however, would be content if we played George Strait songs the whole day. He considers himself a young “troubadour.” I hear marriage is all about compromise, so I am doing my best to have a balanced number of songs that hit different genres. A little pop, rock and “The Macarena” are some crowd pleasers.

I am probably over thinking it, but I know I will be feeling the pressure in a few months if I don’t work ahead. With that being said, I am asking for song inquiries to complete my list. I am looking for songs that will keep people on the dance floor and having fun.

The big day is five months away and I haven’t yet felt stressed or overwhelmed but it does seem like it is approaching quickly. I am feeling especially blessed by family and friends who have helped me during this season of planning.
